The role of identity in the creative process.

When asked how to make the perfect sword, Yoshindo Yoshihara, master sword maker of Japan said,

“First you must follow your own nature. If you are natural and firm in your beliefs, yet flexible in the way you encounter life, then your spirit will inhabit the blade, and it will become perfect.”

The more I create and study creation, the more I am convinced that the foundation of creation is nothing external. Tools and techniques are needed, but secondary. The foundation is knowing yourself, why you want to create, then taking risks, and creating with integrity.
